Biography
After some 12 months off the map, Chief Seattle are back! Bigger and better than before.
The band have been working on some new musical ideas and putting together a line up capable of conveying the message that is behind the band 'Chief Seattle'.
This message is - 'The Truth', that there is more going on than we are aware of, and that if we as human beings can take the time out of the rat race to see this, then we can forge a fuller life for us all and each realise our full potential.
Many of the lyrics take the perspective of Ophiuchus (the serpent bearer) which is a constellation and was the thirteenth Zodiac sign when the Mayan calendar ruled, the months were evenly split into 28 days and people were in harmony with the world. The Gregorian calendar we now live by was but a twinkle in the eye of those determined to disturb the very nature by which we are to abide.
This is where Chief Seattle comes into being, taking this knowledge and trying to bring it back to the world. Chief Seattle himself spoke of being in harmony with the land around us and as we have become so overwhelmed with material needs and beliefs it is our mission to get us back to true harmony. Through his speech to the settlers in their lands, Chief Seattle acknowledged the fact that things change and times move on but he also made it known that despite this, that which was held sacred by his people would remain so and that this is something that would never be broken.
Well all these years later, this message is still as poignant as ever, and it is a message which must be returned to the masses, we need to realise that we are all free spirits and need to work together in harmony, not trample each other into the ground and stifle each other’s minds - this just allows the control to envelope us all and keep us supressed.
So possibly the simplest way to put it is....
